Police Blotter October 18, 2009

VICIOUS ANIMAL

On October 15, 2009 Sheridan Police Officers responded to the Light Rail Station on a report of an injured child. When the officers arrived they observed an 11 month old child bleeding from the forehead. The officers noticed three wounds on the child’s forehead, the first open wound was about one inch in length, just above the child’s right eye, the second wound was about one and a half inches in length and was on the upper portion of the child’s forehead, the third wound was a puncture wound which was near the right temple. The mother of the child told the officers that the child was playing at her house in the 3200 block of South Bryant St. then for no reason the family dog attacked the child. According to the mother the dog has never been aggressive towards the child before. The officers contacted the owner of the dog, who stated that he has owned the dog which is part Akita-Chow-Shepherd mix for about eleven years. The owner was issued a summons for vicious animal and no rabies tag.

GRAFFITI

On October 17, 2009 Sheridan Police Officers responded to the 2700 block of West Hampden Ave. on a report of a vehicle that had been tagged. When the officers arrived the reporting party stated sometime over night someone tagged the side of a company truck that was parked in the parking lot of the business. The officer observed that the truck had been spray painted with red spray paint and that the damage is valued at approximately $20.00, this case will be forwarded to the Graffiti Task Force.

THEFT

On October 15, 2009 a Sheridan Police Officer was contacted reference a stolen wallet from the 4000 block of West River Point Pkwy. The reporting party stated that she realized that she had left her wallet on the table inside the business after she had left. The reporting party stated that she called the business after she realized that her wallet was missing, but the wallet had not been turned in.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF TO VEHICLE

On October 14, 2009 Sheridan Police Officers responded to the 3100 block of South Dale Ct. on a report of damage to a vehicle. When the officers arrived the reporting party stated that someone had smashed out the back window of his 1996 Honda Accord. The reporting party stated that he was contacted by his neighbor who stated that they captured the entire incident on a closed circuit surveillance camera mounted on the front of their house. Officers contacted the neighbors who pointed out the house where the suspect ran into before the police arrived. Officers contacted a female party at the suspect’s house, who stated that the suspect had left several hours ago. Officers received permission to search the house and located the suspect in the back bedroom. The suspect was arrested and issued a summons for damaging the vehicle, the female party that lied to the officers about the suspects whereabouts, was also arrested and issued a summons for interfering with a police investigation.
