October 9, 2009 Police Blotter

Felony Theft

On September 28, 2009 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Sheridan Police responded to the police department regarding a theft that occurred at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of S. Irving St. When the officer arrived, it was learned that an on site apartment manager collects rent money from tenants each month. The owner of the apartment learned that the apartment manager was then falsifying the deposit slips and keeping some of the money from the tenants over the last several months. The total loss was almost two thousand dollars. The suspect was interviewed and has confessed to the crime. Felony theft charges are being filed with the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office.

Motor Vehicle Theft/Resisting Arrest

On September 29, 2009 at approximately 11:30 p.m., a Sheridan Police Officer was patrolling in the 3500 block of S. Federal Blvd., when the Officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked at a local convenience store. The officer pulled in to contact the vehicle as it began to leave the parking lot. The officer ran the license plate information and learned it was a stolen vehicle out of Denver. Before the officer attempted to stop the vehicle the driver exited and approached the officer. When the officer attempted to arrest the driver he began to run. A foot pursuit ensued and the suspect was able to elude capture. Officers began searching the area and after a short time located the suspect in a nearby backyard. After a brief struggle with the suspect the officers were able to gain control and place the suspect in custody. The suspect was transported to the Arapahoe County Jail and charges have been filed with the Arapahoe County District Attorneys Office.

Felony Theft

On October 5, 2009 at approximately 10:15 a.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 1500 block of W. Hampden Ave. on a reported trailer theft. When the officer arrived on scene it was learned that the trailer was secured with a chain and lock but the suspect(s) cut through the chain to remove the trailer. The trailer has been entered nationwide as stolen.

Aggravated Robbery

On August 12, 2009 at approximately 9:00 a.m., Sheridan Police responded to a business in the 3400 block of S. Federal Blvd. on an armed robbery. When officers arrived on scene they learned that the business was robbed by two suspects armed with handguns. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived. Officers were able to gather evidentiary items on scene and are continuing to investigate this case.
