October 16, 2009 Weekly Police Blotter

Reckless Endangerment

On October 9, 2009 at approximately 1:25 a.m., Sheridan officers responded to the 3500 block of S. Federal Blvd. on a report of a female lying in a parking lot. When officers arrived on scene they located a heavily intoxicated female lying in the parking lot with temperatures below freezing. Officers learned that the female was dropped of in the parking lot by a taxi driver. Officers located the driver of the taxi and learned that the female became verbally abusive during transport and refused to pay for service. The driver stopped the vehicle and removed her from the cab leaving her extremely intoxicated in the freezing conditions. The taxicab driver was summonsed for reckless endangerment and the female was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police Vehicle Accident

On October 10, 2009 at approximately 9:50 a.m., a Sheridan officer was assisting two motorists who were involved in a traffic accident in the 3500 block of S. Santa Fe Dr. The road conditions were icy due to the weather and other motorists were driving too fast for conditions. The officer observed that one of the motorists involved in the original accident was standing on the roadway outside of his vehicle. Concerned for the motorist’s safety, the officer gave the motorist shelter in the police vehicle. The officer asked for further assistance to slow the traffic down on S. Santa Fe Dr. just as another officer arrived to assist, an out of control vehicle slammed into the front driver side of the police vehicle causing extreme damage. The officer and motorist in the police vehicle were not injured.




Possession of Marijuana/ False Reports

On October 12, 2009 at approximately 7:25 a.m., a Sheridan officer was patrolling in the 4000 block of S. Federal Blvd. and noticed an occupied vehicle outside of a vacant building. The officer contacted the vehicle to identify the occupants of the vehicle. While waiting for the clearances of both male occupants the officer noticed one of the males leaning forward in his seat and it appeared he was trying to hide something. When the officer returned to the vehicle it was learned that the driver was hiding Marijuana under the seat and the passenger was hiding his wallet. The Marijuana was located and the driver was summonsed into court. The officer then learned that the passenger provided a fictitious name and tried to hide his identification under the seat. The passenger had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and was transported to the Arapahoe County Jail. He was also charged with false reporting.

Possession of Marijuana

On October 14, 2009 at approximately 11:45 p.m., Sheridan officers responded to the 3400 block of W. Quincy Ave. on a reported odor of Marijuana. When officers arrived they located a residence and could smell the odor of Marijuana coming from the back door. Officers observed two females in the residence and were able to see a bag of Marijuana and a pipe on a table. The Marijuana and pipe were confiscated and one of the females was summonsed into court.
