Police Blotter November 6, 2009

Domestic Violence Assault

On October 31, 2009 at approximately 4:40 p.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 3600 block of S. Irving St. on a physical disturbance. When officers arrived on scene they observed a male run into the residence and close the door. Officers learned that the male just assaulted his ex wife and mother in law during an argument. Officers attempted to make contact with the male suspect who ran into the residence but he refused to answer the door. Officers negotiated with the male and were eventually able to talk him into coming out of the residence. The male suspect was arrested on domestic violence charges and twenty five thousand dollars in traffic warrants. After processing the suspect was transported to the Arapahoe County Jail.

DUI Hit and Run

On November 1, 2009 at approximately 2:40 a.m., a Sheridan officer was patrolling in the 4000 block of S. Federal Blvd. and observed a male yelling at another vehicle leaving a parking lot. The officer learned that the vehicle that left the parking lot just backed into another vehicle then fled. The officer was able to catch up to the fleeing vehicle several blocks away. The driver was ultimately arrested for DUI and hit and run.

2nd Degree Assault

On November 1, 2009 at approximately 3:00 a.m., a Sheridan officer responded to Porter Hospital reference an assault that occurred near the 4400 block of S. Federal Blvd. When the officer arrived it was learned that two victims were assaulted in the street near a party they attended. The victims stated that a car full of males pulled up in the street and began assaulting the first victim. The second victim attempted to help the first victim but was also assaulted by the suspects. During the altercation one of the victims was struck with an unknown metal object. The victims stated they don’t know who the suspects are and were unable to provide any descriptions.

Shots Fired

On November 1, 2009 at approximately 4:35 a.m., Sheridan Officers responded to the 3400 block of S. Platte River Dr. on shots fired. When officers arrived on scene they learned that someone was shooting a gun in the complex. Officers found several objects that were struck by bullets in the complex. Officers also learned that one of the bullets struck a window and missed a victim by several feet. While searching the area an officer noticed a person acting suspicious looking out a window. Officers contacted the residence and observed a handgun during a protective sweep of the residence. A suspect was taken into custody and ultimately transported to the Arapahoe County Jail charged with multiple criminal charges.
