Police Blotter - February 5, 2010

DUI / Obstruction

On January 30, 2010 at approximately 2:00 a.m., a Sheridan officer stopped a vehicle for several traffic violations. The driver initially failed to stop but after striking a curb the suspect vehicle was stopped. When the officer contacted the driver he detected a strong odor of alcohol. While the officer was conducting roadside maneuvers the passenger in the vehicle continuously interfered with the investigation. After several warnings the passenger was taken into custody for obstructing. The driver was also taken into custody. Both suspects were processed and issued summonses, before being transported to detox centers.

Assault

On February 2, 2010 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 3200 block of W. Oxford Ave. on a reported prior assault. When officers arrived they learned that the victim was assaulted by her mother on the previous night during an argument. The victim sustained visible injuries to her face and was treated at a local hospital. The mother was located and summonsed into court on assault charges.

DUI / Traffic Accident

On February 5, 2010 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 4000 block of S. Santa Fe Dr. on a reported three-car accident. While investigating the accident officers suspected one of the drivers were intoxicated. Officers conducted roadside maneuvers and the driver was subsequently arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

Aggravated Robbery

On February 5, 2010 at approximately 8:00 p.m. Sheridan Police responded to the 2900 block of W. Hampden Ave. on a reported robbery. When officers arrived they learned that the female victim was standing outside of the building when an unidentified male suspect approached her. The suspect simulated a weapon demanding money from the victim. The victim cooperated and gave the suspect all of her money. The suspect then fled on foot. Officers are reviewing nearby video surveillance and the case is under investigation.
