Police Blotter December 25, 2009

Possession of Marijuana

On December 19, 2009 at approximately 12:45 p.m., a Sheridan officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked near a business. As the officer turned around to contact the vehicle it left. The officer was able to catch up to the vehicle and stop it for a traffic violation. During the contact the officer found Marijuana on the driver and passenger. Both were cited into court for possession of Marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Warrant Arrest/Resisting Arrest

On December 22, 2009 at approximately 3:55 p.m., Sheridan officers responded to the 3400 block of S. Platte River Dr. to execute a search warrant. While executing the warrant the suspect returned to his residence. When officers attempted to arrest the suspect for two unrelated warrants he began to resist officers. After a brief struggle the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect was transported to the Arapahoe County Jail on the warrants and additional charges are pending while Sheridan Detectives investigate.

Child Abuse

On December 22, 2009 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Sheridan Police responded to a hospital in Aurora to meet with the Department of Human Services regarding a possible child abuse in the City of Sheridan. When the officer arrived it was learned that an infant child was suffering from serious injuries. This case is under investigation by the Sheridan Police Department and Department of Human Services.

Robbery

On December 23, 2009 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 3400 block of W. Quincy Ave. reference a robbery. Upon arrival the officer learned that earlier in the evening the victim was in his residence with an acquaintance and another unknown person. The two subjects eventually left and the victim went to sleep. After a short period of time the victim heard a loud pounding on his front door. When the victim went to open his door it was forced open by the two subjects that were there earlier in the evening. The victim was punched several times and the two suspects took the victims wallet and an electronic before fleeing. Officers identified possible suspects and the case is under investigation.

Police Blotter December 18, 2009

Motor Vehicle Theft

On December 5, 2009 at approximately 1:20 p.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 2500 block of W. Hampden Ave. on a reported motor vehicle theft. Upon arrival it was learned that employees at the business were attempting to jump-start another vehicle. The employee left the keys in the vehicle and went into the business to get jumper cables. When the employee returned the vehicle was gone. Video surveillance was collected and this case is under investigation.

Domestic Violence Assault

On December 18, 2009 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 4100 block of S. Federal Blvd. on a prior domestic violence assault. Upon arrival it was learned that the victim had an argument with her boyfriend and during the argument the victim closed and locked her bedroom door to avoid the argument. The male suspect kicked the door open then physically assaulted the victim. Officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect. The suspect was transported to the Arapahoe County Jail and booked in on Domestic Violence Assault charges.

Disturbance

On December 19, 2009 at approximately 6:40 p.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 3600 block of S. River Point Parkway on a reported disturbance. When officers arrived it was learned that a former boyfriend of an employee entered the business demanding the employees personal information from other employees. During the incident the suspect was yelling at customers and employees. When the employee refused to release the information to the suspect, the suspect then grabbed a small child from the arms of another employee and said fine ill just take the baby. The employees were able to take the baby back from the suspect’s arms before he fled from the business. The incident was captured on video and the case is under investigation.

Aggravated Robbery

On December 14, 2009 at approximately 8:50 p.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 4100 block of S. Federal Blvd. on an aggravated robbery. When officers arrived it was learned that two suspects entered the business armed with a shotgun. The suspects took money from the safe and physically assaulted an employee before fleeing on foot. Evidence was collected from the scene and Sheridan Detectives are actively working on this case.

Police Blotter December 11, 2009

Burglary

On December 4, 2009 at approximately 6:00 a.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 1800 block of W. Oxford Ave. on a reported burglary. When officers arrived they learned that the business owner received a call from his alarm company advising of activation. The owner responded to his business and found the front door glass was shattered and multiple computers were taken from a locked display. All the stolen computers have been entered into the nationwide database as stolen. This case is under investigation.

Possession of Schedule II with Intent to Distribute

On December 6, 2009 at approximately 2:00 a.m., a Sheridan Officer was patrolling in the 1800 block of W. Oxford Ave. and observed a suspicious person. As the officer made contact the male tried to hide something behind a wall. The officer checked behind the wall and located several bags of Methamphetamine along with a pipe and cash. The suspect was taken into custody and booked in at the Sheridan Police Department.

Possession of Marijuana

On December 5, 2009 at approximately 7:30 p.m., a Sheridan officer observed a male subject crawling on the ground in a parking lot in the 4300 block of S. Federal Blvd. The officer contacted the subject and ultimately located Marijuana in his pocket. The suspect was issued a summons for Possession of Marijuana.


Theft from Motor Vehicle

On December 8, 2009 at approximately 7:50 a.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 3800 block of S. Knox Ct. on a reported theft. When the officer arrived it was learned that the victim parked her vehicle in a parking lot and left her vehicle unlocked for several minutes. When the victim returned she found her purse was stolen from the front seat of her vehicle. At this time there are no investigative leads in this case.

Domestic Violence Assault

On November 24, 2009 at approximately 3:00 a.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 3100 block of W. Edgemore Dr. on a reported domestic violence assault. When officers arrived on scene they learned that a female victim was physically assaulted by her boyfriend during an argument. The male suspect was arrested and transported to the Arapahoe County Jail and is awaiting his court appearance.

Motor Vehicle Theft

On November 27, 2009 at approximately 5:10 p.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 3600 block of S. River Point Parkway on a reported motor vehicle theft. Upon arrival officers learned that the victim parked her vehicle in a parking lot and when she returned her vehicle was missing. The vehicle was entered into CCIC/NCIC as stolen and was successfully recovered by the Denver Police Department several days later.

Domestic Violence Assault

On November 28, 2009 at approximately 9:20 p.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 3600 block of S. Lowell Blvd. on a reported physical disturbance. When officers arrived on scene it was learned that the female victim was involved in an argument with her boyfriend. During the argument the male suspect began physically assaulting the female victim and fled the scene before police arrived. Officers also learned that the suspect is wanted out of the State of Florida for a felony warrant. At this time the suspect has not been located and a warrant has been completed for Domestic Violence assault.

Residential Burglary

On December 1, 2009 at approximately 5:50 p.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 4000 block of S. Hazel Ct. on a reported burglary. When officers arrived on scene it was learned that the suspect(s) might have entered the residence through a dog door. The victim’s personal belongings were disturbed and a coin collection was taken. Possible suspect information was obtained and this case is under investigation.

Police Blotter November 27, 2009

Motor Vehicle Theft

On November 21, 2009 at approximately 2:50 a.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 3600 block of S. Irving St. on a reported motor vehicle theft. Upon arrival the officer learned that the victims vehicle was stolen within the last two hours. After collecting the needed information to enter the vehicle as stolen, the officer observed a vehicle matching the description drive by the residence. The officer caught up to the vehicle in the 3200 block of W. Bear Creek Drive, where he found it abandoned with the doors opened. Officers setup a perimeter and were able to locate one of the suspects. The suspect was processed at the Sheridan Police Department and Detectives are following up to identify additional suspects.

Eluding Police Officer

On November 22, 2009 at approximately 9:55 a.m., A Sheridan officer observed a vehicle speeding on US285. When the officer got behind the vehicle to stop it, the driver ran through a red light and fled at a high rate of speed. The officer was able to obtain the license plate and a suspect has been identified. The case is being investigated and charges will be filed with the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office.

Aggravated Robbery

On November 23, 2009 at approximately 3:55 a.m., Sheridan Police responded to the 3500 block of S. Federal Blvd. on an armed robbery that just occurred. When officers arrived on scene they learned that an unidentified male suspect entered the business and displayed a knife to the employee. The suspect demanded cash from the register and the employee complied. The suspect then locked the employee in the bathroom and fled the scene with approximately 90.00 dollars in cash. Detectives are investigating this case.


Eluding Police Officer

On November 23, 2009 at approximately 12:45 a.m., a Sheridan officer observed a vehicle speeding northbound in the 4200 block of S. Federal Blvd. The officer caught up to the vehicle near W. Oxford Ave. and S. Hazel Ct. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver drove over several curbs and grassy areas to elude capture. The vehicle then fled through a field and the driver ran from the vehicle. The suspect was able to escape a perimeter. The case is under investigation at this time.
